Art Beyond the Classroom

Explored Van Gogh through an immersive art experience.

Art Beyond the Classroom

Our Year 7 students recently stepped beyond the traditional classroom and into the world of Vincent van Gogh at an immersive exhibition in Bratislava.

Surrounded by colour, light, sound and some of Van Gogh’s most recognisable works, students were able to experience art from a completely different perspective. Rather than simply viewing paintings, they entered an environment where the artist’s work was brought to life around them.

The visit gave students an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with a real cultural experience, encouraging them to observe, interpret and engage with art in new ways. Experiencing Van Gogh’s work on such a scale also opened the door to conversations about artistic expression, creativity and how the presentation of art can influence the way we experience it.

Visits to exhibitions, museums and cultural spaces allow students to encounter the subjects they study in authentic settings and develop their own perspectives through first-hand experience. It was a memorable opportunity to discover that art is not only something to study or observe — it is something to experience.
