On 29 September, our Y5A and Y5B students took their learning beyond the classroom with a field trip to Kuchajda Lake.
Exploring the area around the lake gave students the opportunity to engage directly with their local environment. Through observation and exploration, they were encouraged to notice the nature and surroundings around them, ask questions and develop their curiosity about the world outside the classroom.
Learning in a different environment also helps students strengthen skills that extend across the curriculum. Observation, environmental awareness, independence and communication all become part of the learning experience when students are given the opportunity to explore first-hand.
The morning also included time for movement, play and a shared snack. These moments gave students opportunities to interact with one another in a different setting, strengthening relationships and developing confidence and independence as a group. We believe that meaningful learning can happen in many different environments. Outdoor experiences allow students to connect what they learn at school with the world around them, while encouraging curiosity, responsibility and an active approach to learning.
For our Year 5 students, Kuchajda Lake became their classroom for the morning — a place to observe, explore, connect and learn through experience.
